18 TRUCKS (& GROWING) - IN 4 YEARS

“I’m in it for the long haul.”

I worked for Affiliated food for almost 20 years. I spoke with owner-operators all the time and finally decided to get a truck and work for myself. After buying my first truck, I initially went with another carrier. I knew I wanted to grow my business with more trucks. The carrier I was with wouldn’t lease me more than one truck.

I made the switch with one truck and asked to get more trucks. I was somewhat surprised when they said yes. In fact, they said get as many trucks as I want.

They always told me I had to do things a specific way. I had to report everything I did, show all receipts, etc. – even if it didn’t pertain to them. It just didn’t feel like I was an owner operator. Felt like I still worked for them as a company driver.

I spoke with my wife about this, and she said to leave and to go with Jax Transport, LLC. I made the switch with one truck and asked to get more trucks. I was somewhat surprised when they said yes. In fact, they said get as many trucks as I want.

Now I own 18 trucks and counting. All running with Jax. They said – whatever you need we’ll help you out. They’re good for their word and more.

I never had to pay a down payment on insurance. All I have to do is get the truck and take it to them. Girls in the office take care of everything. Trinity, Lori, David Oles make everything easy. All I have to do is handle payroll. I always look back and think this is crazy – because I leased my first truck and I had to do all myself. With them, I get another truck, take it to them – they give me decals and I’m on the road. Takes about 2 days to do it.

Never thought we’d be at this spot we’re at right now…Crazy because he (Shane) doesn’t have to do any of this for anybody…I’n in it for the long-haul.

Need tires? They said go to shop and get them. They even give me a loan if I’m in a bind. If my trucks out on the road and breaks down, they pay for repairs and I pay them back. What other company does that?

Never thought we’d be at this spot we’re at right now. It’s had its ups and down but we’re still working and we’re still growing. Crazy because he (Shane) doesn’t have to do any of this for anybody. I told my wife, I don’t know why he’s doing this, but I’m glad. I’m in it for the long haul. It’s been good.
